Thunder Cake by Patricia Polacco
This book has been a favorite in our home for many years. It is a perfect book to read during those frequent summer thunderstorms since it deals with overcoming fear of thunder. An added bonus if you like to bake with your child, is the Thunder Cake recipe. It is delicious! Highly recommended by Rachel and Sarah.

Lost ! by David McPhail
A forest bear finds himself lost in the big city and seeks the help of a young boy to find his way home. Once the boy gets the bear home, he discovers he now needs help getting home himself. McPhail's illustrations are always delightful and perfectly express the emotions of the bear and boy. The book also expresses the often mixed emotions of the kindergarner as he explores independence. Recommended by Sarah.
