Awesome Animal Stories
Tornado
by Betsy Byars

One of the Book Nuts Favorite books is Tornado
by Betsy Byars.  This is a very special book
about a very special dog named Tornado. The
book is really a collection of short stories within a
story.  A family anxiously waits in a storm cellar
for a tornado to pass and worry about their
father who is still out in the storm.  While they
wait, Pete, the farmhand tells them stories of his
dog, Tornado, who was blown into Pete's life
during another storm years ago.  Everyone
loved this story, and you are sure to love it, too.

Socks
by Beverly Cleary

Socks had it made.  A cat couldn't ask for
anything more.  The Brickers played with him,
fed him well and there was always a nice
warm lap for him to lay down in and purr
himself to sleep.  The Brickers' home was
almost cat heaven.  That is it was cat heaven
until they brought home the BABY!  Poor
Socks!  This book is sure to have you
laughing out loud.  Recommended by

Because of Winn-Dixie
by Kate DiCamillo

This is the heart-warming story of how several
lonely people find each other with the help of a
very special dog named Winn-Dixie.  You have
to read this book!  India Opal, Winn-Dixie, Miss
Franny, the Preacher, Gloria Dump and all the
other wonderful characters will become a part
of your family, and you'll be sorry to say
good-bye to them at the end of the book.  It
was so good, I had to start reading it all over
again when I finished the book the first time.
