The Yellow Star: The Legend of King Christian X of Denmark by Carmen Agra Deedy

|
This legend is a wonderful story about how all men are equal. King Christian X was a much loved ruler of Denmark during World War II and while the events related in this story are fictional, the book is still worth reading for the message it sends. Make sure to read the author's note when reading the book, as it explains what is fiction and what is true of the Danes resistance to the Nazi Occupation of Denmark. Recommended by Rachel and Sarah.

Snow Treasure by Marie McSwigan
During World War II, Norway was invaded by Germany. The people of Norway did not like having the Nazi soldiers in their land. In 1940, a Norwegian freighter arrived in Baltimore with a cargo of gold bullion. It was reported that the gold had been smuggled past the Nazi soldiers in Norway by Norwegian boys and girls. There is no proof that the story is true, but this book tells what may have happened! Children can be heros, too!
