World War I -- Home Front
People who lived during World War I called it the Great War.  It began
in 1914, but the United States did not enter the war until 1917.  It was a
terrible war and many people on both sides died.  The war was fought
mostly in Europe. The United States did not have any battles in our
country, but the families who remained here had to be very brave, too.
Many fathers, brothers, and friends were in a far away land fighting for
the freedom of others.  Here are some of the Book Nuts favorite books
about this period of our history.
